Massage

At Spring we offer remedial, craniosacral therapy, myofascial release, lymphatic drainage & aromatherapy based massages.

Remedial, Craniosacral and Myofascial

Remedial Massage is seen as both a method of relaxation and as a therapy in itself. While the luxurious feeling of being pampered cannot be discounted, releasing muscle tension and stimulating blood flow to muscles and connective tissue makes Remedial Massage an effective therapy in numerous ailments such as:

  • Headache, Back pain, Poor circulation, High blood pressure, RSI and Carpal Tunnel syndrome, TMJ syndrome, ‘Wry neck’, Whiplash, Knee pain, Sciatica, and Pregnancy aches and pains (2nd & 3rd trimester only)

Craniosacral Therapy and Myofascial Release Therapy are slow, gentle techniques that relax and unwind muscles and connective tissue to a deeper level than massage and therefore often have longer lasting results. They may be of greater assistance than Remedial Massage in situations such as:

  • Chronic pain after car accident, fall or other trauma
  • Conditions of poor spinal alignment (ie, scoliosis) or reduced spinal articulation
  • Pain in muscles is too great for them to be massaged

Lymphatic Drainage

Our bodies have a lymphatic system that helps to fight infection and disease. Lymphatic drainage therapy consists of a manual massage focussing on specific lymph nodes and points of the body, as well as the natural flow of the lymphatic system. Lymphatic drainage can help to reduce blockages in the lymphatic system and promote a healthier body. Lymphatic drainage has also been shown to be of immense benefit to individuals suffering lymphoedema as a result of removal of lymphatic tissue such as what often happens during breast cancer surgery.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy massage uses essential oils and other aromatic compounds during a relaxing massage to enhance the experience by altering a person’s mind, mood, cognitive function or health. Effects of aromatherapy massage tend to be long lasting as the essential oils are gradually absorbed into the skin and act on the deep tissue structure some time after the massage is complete.
